Physics lessons at Spring Gymnastics Club

Jon Badgery and Dr. Sam Rowe visit a local gymnastics club to discuss Key Stage 3 physics lessons about forces.

The Spring Gymnastics Club in Norwich is based at the Hewitt Academy on Hall Road, offering gymnastics training for children and adults of all ages and abilities.

Sam, one of our science presenters, recently started lessons at the club so thought it would be the perfect location to talk science with Jon... and try out some more gymnastics!

The filming covered Key Stage 3 physics lessons on the topics of forces, moments and springs. Sam and Jon worked their way around the different pieces of equipment, including the high bar, pommel horse and vault, to showcase (as best as they could!) the physics behind particular movements.

Our thanks go to Paul Sprong, Boys' Artistic Head Coach, and the rest of the fantastic team at the club for letting us use the space and for talking to us about the science that is integrated into gymnastics training.
