Earlier this month, Sam, Heather and Sol visited the University of East Anglia to film with the vice-chancellor of the university.
David Richardson was educated at the University of Keele (BSc, Biochemistry) and the University of Birmingham (PhD, 1988) and undertook post-doctoral research at the University of Oxford (1988-91). David joined the UEA in 1991, and has also held positions of Dean of Faculty of Science, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor before being appointed as Vice-Chancellor in 2014.
David’s research group is active in the area of bacterial bioenergetics, and his work has shed important light on the mechanism of greenhouse gas production by bacteria and the molecular basis and function of bacterial nanowires.
David contributed to videos related to the nitrogen cycle and electric (or "rock-breathing") bacteria. He also spoke about his career in science and aspirations as vice-chancellor. We would like to thank David and the team at the UEA for arranging the filming session, and we look forward to working with researchers at the university again soon!
