Today we paid a visit to the Sheepscot River Pottery. All of their pottery is skillfully made, painted and glazed right there at their Edgecomb studio. Their artistic creations are made from pure porcelain English clay and reduction fired to 2400 degrees. It was a pleasure to watch Bill their potter, throw the clay to be shaped and formed into bowls. The films will be great for our materials unit in year 1.
Once a week they load our kiln and begin their firing process. When the firing is completed, and then slowly cooled, their studio crew rolls the kiln out and inspects their work.
